YOUR BODY'S A BLANK CANVAS
Call for Leeds businesswomen to take charge of their wardrobes

Following International Women's Day,  two Leeds entrepreneurs are launching a new service for businesswomen of the city, with the message that our bodies are blank canvas's, in a bid to inspire professional women of the city to seize this diary date as an opportunity to update their working wardrobe to ensure they stand out from the crowd.

Providing a haven for time poor, style savvy, women,  new online boutique, www.businesswardrobe.com sets out to fill a gap in the market for professional, yet individual outfits for work, calling on a number of exclusive European designers to bring new designs to the UK. The website will also build outfits, and offer complete looks and style tips, to make it easier, and quicker for women to develop a new working wardrobe.

After causing a stir in Leeds city centre with a naked body painted model, Business Wardrobe founders Jane Dawson and Claire Crabtree, are paving the way for their website launch. Representing the body as an undressed mannequin, the message portrayed was that the body is a blank canvas, and whilst the tendency to invest in clothes for casual and evening wear is commonplace, the working wardrobe is an area which is often neglected.

Keen to inject some flair into dressing for work, Business Wardrobe are aiming to have a positive effect on our attitudes towards our working wardrobes. As confidence in appearance is claimed to enhance our career opportunities, (never more crucial than in the current unstable job market), Business Wardrobe are keen to address the frustration expressed by busy working women that a fabulous, stylish and contemporary working wardrobe is difficult to find on the high street.

Founding Director Jane Dawson said: “It's important to look and feel well dressed at work, but with busy lives, we don't have the time to hunt out the perfect suit, that's complemented by the most beautifully fitting shirt, and finished off by a wow factor jacket... Through businesswardrobe.com we aim to give businesswomen the chance to stand out from the crowd, and make work wear shopping a comfortable, and enjoyable experience“.

Steve Phillip, Managing Director at Leeds based Red FM, leading women's personal development agency, said: “Now, more than ever individuals need to build themselves up as their very own 'superbrand'. Women are no exception to this and the key to creating a powerful persona is remembering that you're always on stage – if this is the case surely you want to make sure you feel great and are confident, and a lot of this comes down to how you present yourself”.

Etta Cohen from the networking and support group for women, Forward Ladies, said: “Although succeeding as a businesswoman is about much more than what you wear, confidence is needed for businesswomen to make their mark, and having the right attire can give you that boost which is sometimes all you need to set you in the right frame of mind to take on the world!”

To celebrate International Women's Day and the launch announcement, www.businesswardrobe.com is offering a 10% introductory discount to Leeds businesswomen who preregister on the web site in March.

www.businesswardrobe.com is set to go live on 2nd April 2009 with collections ranging from £50 -£260.
