After scoping out interest on LinkedIn Richard realised that there was a need to bring SMEs together and motivate and inspire them about doing business in Yorkshire. With speakers ranging from Olympic Athlete Tracey Morris, to Yorkshire Bank's Gary Lumby, to leading Social Media Strategist Michael Ham, the full day event programme will share their wealth of knowledge and experience in personal development and growth strategies, to ensure businesses learn from the day.

The event runs from 9am to 5pm and tickets are still available. Email janet@recruitment-2000.co.uk to book.

With people coming from across Yorkshire,  over 600  delegates and over 60 exhibitors are set to attend the inaugural Brand Yorkshire event which is sponsored by Commerce Intelligence, Ethically making companies more valuable. From start-ups to already established business associates, all professionals attending will gain an insight into the knowledge of the nationally successful speakers on topics such as business turnaround and recovery to business development strategy.

Organiser Richard Norman said: “The event will bring together like-minded people, who will also share their contacts and knowledge. It's intended to be a learning and development conference, a full day with a full programme of respected speakers across a diverse range of business disciplines, providing  delegates with knowledge, inspiration and motivation to help drive businesses in the region forward. The event will also be a great networking opportunity as well as an invaluable skills development 'workshop'.  I want people to go away from this with practical information they can put to use in their business, not just a pocketful of business cards and my vision is for people to share experiences and knowledge in collaboration amongst Yorkshire businesses”.

Brand Yorkshire originated as a LinkedIn group set up to bring together businesses interested in supporting students in schools and college to get experience and insight into what it's like running a business. It was established by Richard Norman through his business Camino, who help build emotional intelligence in students to prepare them for work. The group then grew from there to help Yorkshire businesses come together for the good of the local economy.

Richard, who works with many businesses across the region on growth strategies, personal development and improving emotional intelligence, will be speaking at the event. He said: “I'm born and bred in Leeds and I'm proud of my heritage. I'm excited about bringing together so many local businesses to learn from each other at this event as I'm passionate about seeing the local economy thrive- It's good for business, good for the region and good for our kids' futures.”

Other speakers will include Tracey Morris, who will be discussing her inspirational journey from being a previously unknown fun-runner, working as a contact lens specialist in Leeds, on to her meteoric rise to be the first British woman to finish the London Marathon in 2004 and then representing GB in the Athens Olympics in the same year. This will provide an interesting outlook on how development and growth strategy's in sport can be applied to business.

A further speaker will be Gary Lumby, a key figure on the Leeds business scene. Director of Small Business at Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank, President of the Leeds Chamber of Commerce, and also a Non Executive Director of Business Link Yorkshire, Marketing Leeds and Education Leeds as well as being a Co-director in two small businesses specialising in Business Consulting and Contract Decorating and Interior Design, Gary has a plethora of experience to share.

With businesses looking for practical strategies for business strategy and sales and marketing execution, delegates to this one day conference will come away having met new business contacts and gathered an increased understanding of how to succeed in the ever frugal business world.

Aiming to enthuse professionals from across Yorkshire and the surrounding Leeds area, the Brand Yorkshire event will be an outstanding opportunity to share business contacts and listen to advice from those who have a regional presence.
