New Gym Launches with 'High Five Your Heart' Event

Affordable Yorkshire gym operator Xercise4less is set to open its doors next week to the largest fitness studio in the city and to celebrate is inviting Leeds residents to 'high five their hearts' on Saturday 18th February.

In support of the British Heart Foundation, the team of personal trainers and fitness experts at Xercise4less are running an afternoon of free 5 minute power classes to help people raise their heart rate and take a healthy approach to exercise. With donations also being made to Leeds Children's Hospital, the gym chain is hoping to make an impact on many levels during National Heart Month.

At a time when three quarters of the population* are considering giving up their New Year's resolutions of getting fit, Xercise4less is keen to prove that their members are different. Leeds Gym Manager, Ian Walker said: “What I love about Xercise4less clients is their spirit – they are not the ones who join the gym then quit before the month's out – they're people who enjoy having fun at the gym, who use it to socialise as well as keep fit. We hope this event will be an opportunity for people to get together and get to know each other as well as being a great day to get some exercise done in a fun environment”.

He added:” It's a common misconception that you need to train for hours to keep fit. We want people to realise that short active stints of activity are just as good as long drawn out training sessions, and encourage people of all fitness levels to come down and take part in as much or as little as they'd like”.

Running from 12pm – 2pm there will be a range of free 5 minute power classes taking place in the new studio, incorporating activities from Zumba to Kick Boxing, to Spinning, to Step. Set within the 40,000 sq ft site on Kirkstall Road instructors will create classes that can be dipped in and out of by attendees, so people could do 5 minutes or 50 minutes of exercise.

The gym will also be open throughout the day for guests to receive a tour of the new state of the art facilities while personal trainers will be on hand to help create a personal fitness programme for new gym members.

A commitment to making the gym accessible to all has always been a part of the Xercise4less brand, and current members signed up to attend span an age range of 16 to 67 years old.

The event will be hosted by Capital FM's breakfast show DJ Hirsty who will keep everything moving with his up-beat soundtrack and infectious energy!

Healthy themed home-made snacks will be served throughout the day, provided by local caterers, to refresh guests and inspire them to lead a healthier lifestyle.

The fourth of the gym chain to open in the UK after success in Wakefield, Castleford and Stockton-On-Tees, the Kirkstall Industrial Estate site will boast the biggest fitness studio in Leeds and the UK, which can hold up to 400 people and will host over 40 free classes a week, free for members. With over 300 pieces of state of the art equipment, the gym is to be 'zoned' for different activities such as cardio, weights, a combat zone, women's only area and there are additional areas for personal training sessions and spin classes.

Xercise4less Managing Director and ex Leeds rugby player, Jon Wright said, “With Xercise4less we've set out to create 'the people's gym' at each site, realising members use the facilities for lots of different reasons. This event is intended to bring people together and we're also proud to be supporting 2 great causes along the way. “

After the launch event Xercise4less in Leeds will open on Friday 24th February 2012 and will be the biggest gym complex in the city.
